It’s logical that we continue to explore the Universe from a Federal level, as well as in cooperation with other nations. 1) An income tax is not compatible with liberty.

2) Environment regulation benefits only polluters as they have the clout to influence the regulation. Environmental regulations were introduced to mitigate lawsuit losses of big corporations. You need to assume that all powers of government will be abused by the person with the most conflict of interest possible.

3) You mention amending the Constitution and I agree that this must be done, but definitely not reducing the first amendment rights of ANYONE! The most egregious error in the Constitution is that it assumes that the majority of the people that hold office are honorable and the people will remain vigilant. Impeachment of individuals is handled internally, like an Internal Affairs unit for a police force. However, what happens if (because the people are not vigilant) the majority ignores the Constitution? This was supposed to be handled by electing the "bums out," which we know does not work until a crisis (and maybe not even then). This was somewhat mitigated through the Senate, where there was representation of the State's interests. Not that I am saying at all that the States are not corrupt, but that there was a competition of power there that held the governments in check, giving an advantage to the people. That is of course gone with the adoption of the 17th amendment. I realize that abolishing the 17th is not a likely (or even desirable) endeavor. However, some mechanism needs to be amended to the Constitution to reestablish a balance of power between the states and the general government. This could be the impeachment of senators (making them answerable to the states if not selected by them) or some other way to make the general government accountable to someone other than itself.
4) None of this can work without clarifying the powers of the general government within the Constitution itself. The clauses dealing with general welfare, interstate commerce, and supreme law must be dealt with in the Constitution as an amendment. I do know that this is already in there in the 9th and 10th; however, they are apparently not clear enough. Another amendment needs to be added to the Constitution restating that the General Government has no general power. All powers granted to the general government are specific and well defined. Any general statement within the Constitution or its amendment with respect to the authority of the general government relate only to those specific powers. Any power assumed by the general government must be finite and not expansive. In case of any dispute of power between the people and the general government or the states and the general government, judgement shall be in favor of the states or people unless the general government can prove without a reasonable doubt that the power assumed by it is specifically given to it by the Constitution and limited, well defined, and not expansive. Upon petition or publication of one fifth of the many states that any power assumed by the general government is not specific, limited, well defined, and not expansive, that power is de facto extra Constitutional, illegal, and without force. Continued assumption of that power by any member of the general government, elected, appointed, or otherwise selected on its behalf, is a high crime against the United States, its member States, and/or the people.

This is a modern “liberal” who has come a long way, but still has a few things to learn. 1) The founders grasp of the principles of liberty meant NO INCOME TAX. If a man does not own the fruits of his labor, he is not free! 2) “Sustainability” is a HUGE DECEPTION. The author needs to learn the truth about Agenda 21 and its ties to the global banking cartel. Obviously, I am late in reading your article, but I find your journey very interesting as I once completed the same journey only from the Right (and before I turned 22 years old almost 2 years ago). I'm unsure how far along you are currently on your journey, but I agree with Max (poster above) that based on this article you haven't gone quite far enough. I recommend you check out the Mises Institute (www.mises.org). They helped me on my journey and can answer all sorts of questions you may have concerning true liberty. Anyway, I agree with you that the coming crisis, although very painful it may be, is a time for great change and liberation if the seeds of liberty have been planted far and wide enough. Despite Mr.Bonomo's Gloom and Doom predictions on America's future outlook, it might surprises him to learn that actually America is doing remarkaby fine;actually, it just has been named the fourth wealthiest country in the world, only slightly lagging behind Norway, Australia and New Zealand/in 2009 list US occupied the 13th place/.
Despite the shortcomings of the current American economical and political system we all are well aware with, it is still one of the best political systems the world has come up with to date, paired with the strongest and biggest economy second to none.
Being an US taxpayer is only a small price we are willing to pay in return for a something called Civilization and the privilege to live in one of the world's wealthiest countries.
Any American who doesn't agree with the current political system to the point of almost hating his/her homeland,has the choice to go live in the Amazonian jungle, or North Korea, or Cambodia, and hopefuly prosper-of course, that's highly optional.

As per the last two comments, I agree with the poster that the Repubic is no longer three, that the complexity is staggering, but that is just the point, simplify, get back to basics...it is not so complex it can never be wound down, but that is what many would like to believe

Nice story. Unfortunately you don't recognize this yet, but you've only moved part way from the infinitely corrupt status quo towards enlightenment.

You must abandon ALL arbitrary structures. This includes, in fact, all governments of all levels. To soften the psychological shock such a change requires, you and others are perfectly welcome to continue ANY government program you wish --- on a purely subscription basis. Anyone can subscribe to any level of service you offer, if they pay the required fee. This does not force, coerse, limit or enslave any sentient being, so it is acceptable. You can even call your programs "SocialSecurity", "Medicare", "Medicade", "FoodStamps", "Unemployment" and so forth. But none of these programs can limit the complete unfettered freedom of anyone to pressure them to join (to receive full liberty). After a transition period, everyone will understand these programs are less optimal than [other] privately available alternatives, and escape to those more individualistic alternatives --- which is what we should want.

The fact is, governments do not exist --- PERIOD. Even in fundamental law, written back when many humans were mostly sane, all organizations were called "fictitious entities". While this term is a bit of a self-contradiction (a "fiction" cannot be a real "entity"), it does track the normal meaning of "fiction" (humans have a concept like "SantaClaus" but the concept has no referent).

You will NEVER fix the problems you identify unless you remove ALL utter fictions from your "new system". Why? Because the only system that can work, and is legitimate, is a system that deals only with reality, and 100% ignores all fiat, fake, fraud, fiction and fantasy. All that exists is the universe. That is an indisputable fact, since "existence", "universe" and "reality" literally mean "everything that exists". Earth is a real part of the universe. Every human is a real part of the universe. Deal with those, and omit all abstract BS.

Every "government concept" is fiat, fake, fraud, fiction and fantasy... and must be 100% excluded from any "new system". Otherwise the predators-that-be will simply control the "meaning" of those fictions and re-confuse, re-control, re-dominate and re-enslave everyone. That is what predators do, and they have thousands of years of practice. You cannot adopt their premises (that fictions are real) and escape the consequences they intend (theft, fraud, slavery).

I've been thinking about these issues (and the fundamentals they rely upon) for decades. To figure out what are the fundamentals requires enormous, sustained intellectual effort... largely because virtually all conventional wisdom (and many abstract concepts) were carefully crafted by the predators-that-be to confuse, disable, thwart and mislead human consciousness. The "answers" may be difficult to identify from first principles, but they are also amazingly simple and rather obvious once you identify them and consider them seriously.

I am willing to correspond with you personally if you wish. You are certainly correct that the current system MUST GO... otherwise the entire population of earth will be PERMANENTLY enslaved, with no practical means of escape.

You're on the right track, but haven't gone far enough, and haven't identified the most crucial and most fundamental ideas on which everything else must be based.
